Congratulations and welcome!

Your player has been placed on one of our teams for our inaugural season!  We are so
excited and happy to be able to provide this comprehensive program for all our players.

On the third Sunday of every month, we will hold our Board Meetings in the function
room at the Kennedy Rink in Hyannis. Your attendance at these meetings would be
greatly appreciated. There are many ways for you to get involved that require very little
time. And every little bit of time and effort you put into the program makes an enormous
difference in the experience your player will have with us.  There are many volunteer
opportunities available.

If your team has not designated a Team Parent yet, they will need one. They will need
Team moms, locker moms, uniform parents, first aid parents, tournament parent, picture
parent, newspaper article parent.  This shouldn't fall onto one parents shoulders. Everyone
will be involved in helping make sure your players have the best season possible.
Community effort is what it takes.  Step up and volunteer.

Parents will not be allowed in the locker rooms, except team moms.  If players need
assistance dressing, we can arrange an alternate room for you to help her, and then she
can join her team when finished.  If players need their skates tied, they can leave the
locker room to have you help them.  We are trying to reinforce independence and
responsibility, and reliance on self with these rules.  Your understanding and help is
appreciated in this area.

NO cell phones will be allowed in locker rooms.  If a player has to have her cell phone on
for urgent matters, the team mom will place it in a cell phone basket until the team is
done and cleared out. This is to keep the girls focused on their team, on the task at hand,
and to help get the girls attention when the coach is trying to communicate to them.

All players are expected to be dressed and ready to go 10 minutes before scheduled ice-time
in order for them to be ready to have chalk talk before going on ice.  This is considered part
of practice.  The coaches will use this time to go over plays and skills to be learned on ice,
in order to minimize the amount of ice time.  Please be sure to have your player ready and
on time for chalk talk and pre-ice.  They can always be doing stick practice with golf balls
at this time as well.  There is always something they can be doing to sharpen their skills
and we aim to maximize every minute.

Practices for the U10 and U14C teams will be held on Wednesday nights at 6:00pm.
Practices for the U12 and U14A teams will be on Wednesday nights at 7:00pm. The U16
team will finish their practices at the Kennedy Rink in Hyannis beginning October 10th.
Clinics will be held on Tuesdays at Charles Moore Arena at 7:00pm for ALL teams and
Goalies.  There is also an additional clinic from October 10th to November 28th at
Kennedy Rink on Friday evenings from 7:30-8:20. All Teams, goalies and girls 4-19 may
attend. This ice time is included in the BYHA Girls Program Tuition, but if you are a
registered girl with BYHA, you may join us for $5.00 a night. New players are encouraged
to attend. See Clinic page for more information.

There may be some weeks that ice times will be switched; however, plenty of advanced
notice will be given to you. Please set your schedules now to allow for attendance of all
practices and games.  Respect and Commitment to the team is part of what we want to
teach the players and we need your help!

Home games are slotted for the 4pm, 5:10pm and 6:20pm at Charles Moore on Saturdays.
We will be losing one of these time slots when the High School Season starts and it will be
moved to a morning hour, so please watch the schedules for changes.

By now you have all received your new red and white game jerseys. Please take good care
of these for they will be returned at the end of the season. All game socks must match.
Please see your coaches to purchase a pair of BYHA game socks.

PLEASE HANG YOUR GAME JERSEYS TO DRY.
THIS WILL HELP THEM TO MAINTAIN THEIR COLOR AND NUMBERS AND THEY
WILL LAST MUCH LONGER.

ALL players MUST WEAR mouth guards.  USA hockey is now enforcing this rule in
strength.  Players are being ejected from the game for not wearing them, or for having
them hanging on the side or from a string and not in their mouths.  Mouthgaurds are not
just for protecting teeth.  They do the serious job of protecting from concussion.  All our
coaches will be enforcing this rule.  We recommend you purchase a few back-up
mouthguards to ensure your player can practice or play in a game.  It is their safety we
want to safeguard.  Play it Again Sports carries a mouthguard called Gravity.  It sits on
the lower jaw, is more comfortable, the girls can talk and drink water without taking it
out.  Plus it has no string, so it stays in.

ALL parents are being required to go to the Parents Page of our website and review the
following.

•        The USA Hockey Concussion Protocol
•        The USA Hockey Concussion Guidelines
•        The USA Hockey Parent Education
•        H.E.A.R. Website
•        2004 Parent Education Power Point Presentation
•        Are You A Good Hockey Parent? Presentation.

Please email us after you have looked at these sights.  We would like to get your input and
ideas of how to best communicate a safe environment for your children.  If you find other
websites that you think maybe helpful towards this effort, please let us know.

ALL parents, players and coaches will be required to sign contracts designed to reinforce
good sportsmanship and teaching respect.  Please go to the Zero Tolerance Policy
presentation on www.usahockey.com and review it. These Code of Conduct forms were
handed out at the first practices and should all be signed and returned.

We hope to have a great season and look forward to a continued effort of growing strong
women through sport.  We look forward to working together with you towards this
effort.  If you have any questions, comments or concerns during the season, please do not
hesitate to contact us at any time.

Our Player Advocate, Mr. Dan Gallagher, will be available at all times for our players
benefit.  Please feel free to contact him at any time should you feel the need. All contact
information is available on the website.

Thank you one and all for your support, your enthusiasm and for helping us to realize a
goal and a purpose for our youth.  Enjoy the season, cheer loudly for all teams, wear your
red and white proudly and above all-HAVE FUN!!!

See you soon at the rink!!!
